Prime Minister of Fiji and His Family Attend the Spring Festival Celebration of Confucius Institute at University of South Pacific

On February 3rd, local time, Frank Bainimarama, Prime Minister of Fiji, together with his family, attended the Spring Festival Celebration jointly organized by the Chinese Association of Fiji, the Chinese Embassy in Fiji, the Confucius Institute at the University of the South Pacific and Chinese Culture Center. Qian Bo, Chinese Ambassador in Fiji, Jenny Seeto, President of the Chinese Association of Fiji, representatives from Chinese companies, overseas Chinese in Fiji and local residents attended the celebration.

Qian Bo reviewed the major accomplishments China has achieved during the past year, and pointed out that China-Fiji relationship is steadily heading forward. In 2019, China hopes to continue to join hands with Fiji to promote the development of both countries. In the end, Qian Bo sent his New Year greetings to all the overseas Chinese in Fiji.

Frank Bainimarama highly appreciated the efforts that the overseas Chinese in Fiji have made for the development of Fiji. He said that the overseas Chinese have become an indispensible force for Fiji’s development, and he hoped that the friendship between China and Fiji will be passed on from generation to generation.

In her speech, Jenny Seeto thanked Frank Bainimarama for his presence, and also expressed her appreciation to the Confucius Institute at the University of the South Pacific for its efforts in promoting Chinese culture. She hoped that the Confucius Institute will continue the efforts and make greater contributions.
